VDR is the superstar, what about vitamin D metabolism genes polymorphisms?

By |2023-03-18T18:04:00+00:00March 18th, 2023|Science, VDR|0 Comments

Vitamin D requires activation to show its pharmacological effect. While most studies investigate the association between vitamin D and disease, only a few focus on the impact of vitamin D metabolism gene polymorphisms (vitDMGPs). This bibliometric study aims to provide an overview of current publications on vitDMGPs (CYP27B1, CYP24A1, CYP2R1, CYP27A1, CYP2R1, DHCR7/NADSYN1), compare them across countries, affiliations, and journals, and inspect keywords, co-citations, and citation bursts to identify trends in this research field. We found that popular studies in the field include genome-wide association studies, genetic variants of vitDMGPs, and vitamin D. CYP24A1 and CYB27A1 were the most explored genes, suggesting more research opportunities for other genes. Unexpectedly, the association between vitDMGPs and cardiovascular diseases is outdated, suggesting further studies covering this point or updating its recent knowledge. The trending topics for the past two years were bile acid metabolism, transcriptome and gene expression, biomarkers, single nucleotide polymorphism, and fibroblast growth factor 23. It is expected that an increase in studies investigating vitDMGPs and coronavirus disease 2019, hypercalcemia, Smith–Lemli–Opitz syndrome, 27-hydroxycholesterol, and mendelian randomization will be noticed. What is the hardest part of being a PhD student?

By |2023-02-14T12:32:49+00:00February 14th, 2023|Science|0 Comments

Support: Pursuing a Ph.D. is a significant and challenging undertaking that requires the right support system. It is crucial to choose a supervisor who is willing to assist and guide you throughout your academic journey. In the event you're unsure of how to select one, pursue a field you're passionate about and familiar with so that you can support yourself internally and maintain motivation. Publication rejection: One way to gain global recognition and international credit for your Ph.D. work is through the publication path. While this is a good path to take, it comes with its own set of challenges, including rejection of your papers multiple times. Dealing with such rejections can be challenging, but it is important to remain resilient, as persistence is the key to success. Stuck mode: It is common for students to feel stuck two years into their Ph.D. program, leading them to question whether it is worth continuing. They may feel they have wasted time, need more money, and should pursue other opportunities. However, it is advisable to exercise patience and see the program through to completion. This way, other opportunities will become available to you. If you have doubts about continuing after starting, it's best not to waste your time, your supervisor's time, or the place of another student who may be more committed to the program.

St. Jude Total Therapy studies from I to XVII

By |2023-02-14T12:20:17+00:00June 13th, 2022|Science|0 Comments

Over the past 60 years, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has developed 17 treatment protocols for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with the goal of finding the most effective and least toxic treatment. These protocols include preventive therapy, risk stratification, and a variety of treatments such as pharmacological agents and irradiation therapy. The application of these protocols has improved the cure rate of childhood ALL with relatively few adverse effects. St. Jude's approach serves as a reminder of the importance of research in combating catastrophic diseases like ALL. Trend research of vitamin D receptor: Bibliometric analysis

By |2022-04-11T19:36:15+00:00October 5th, 2021|Science, VDR|0 Comments

Recent studies have highlighted the importance of the analysis of vitamin D serum levels and its metabolites in multiple diseases. Bibliometric research is a valuable method to analyze qualitatively and quantitatively the publications related to a particular subject. The method assists in identifying novel and emerging areas of research and it is widely used in the medical research field. The number of publications in the Web of Science database associated with vitamin D receptor (VD) has increased over the years up to mid-2021. Hence, it is necessary to identify global trends and future directions in the studies on VDR. We believe that this is the first work to use VOSviewer as the main tool to analyze publications linked to VDR. Vaccine: The Black Box

By |2021-03-22T18:01:38+00:00February 17th, 2021|Science|0 Comments

I am delighted to share with you our new book: "Vaccine: The Black Box" No doubt 2020 was a challenging year for some, and tough for others due to COVID-19 pandemic. The early announcement of the vaccine at the beginning of 2021 gave several communities the hope to terminate this pandemic and made them believe they could shortly go back to normal life. Meanwhile, others were doubtful concerning the efficacy of the vaccine itself and advocated against it. In this book, we are representing the two sides – those who are for and those who are against the idea of vaccination. We do so by uncovering the historical fights and presenting various factors (religious, political, personal and industrial) concerning the vaccines and vaccination and by showing how different the perspectives of various people can be. We believe this book will build a bridge of trust and create an open dialogue for both sides. Whether you are off medical background or not, this book will be a valuable source of information. We did our best to clarify the medical terms and conditions and to explain in simple words the mechanisms that might seem difficult at first. Hopefully, this will make the time spent reading this book both informative and useful. We believe this book will build a bridge of trust and create an open dialogue for the community to know more about vaccine and vaccination. Whether you are off medical background or not, this book will be a valuable source of information.
